APA Awards Description & Nomination Form
A memo from the Awards Committee:
On behalf of the American Polygraph Association’s Awards and Nominations committee, I would like to take this opportunity to inform you that the nominations process for the awards presentation at the APA New Orleans 2024. Conference is now open!
As we have done in previous years, the procedure for submissions is electronic. When choosing to nominate, please be sure to download the attachment and then open it in a PDF reader. The form has not been created to be filled out in an internet browser.
Posted below are the descriptions of the five awards distributed at the Annual Seminar as well as the award nomination form. Both forms are attached in Spanish as well.
Nominations must be received at least 75 days prior to the annual seminar to be considered.
Submissions must be emailed to award_nominations@apapolygraph.org.
The deadline for submissions is June 2, 2024.

En nombre del comité de premios y nominaciones de la American Polygraph Association, me gustaría aprovechar esta oportunidad para informarles que ya está abierto el proceso de nominaciones para la presentación de premios en la Conferencia APA New Orleans 2024.
Como hemos hecho en años anteriores, el procedimiento de presentación es electrónico. Al elegir nominar, asegúrese de descargar el archivo adjunto y luego abrirlo en un lector de PDF. El formulario no ha sido creado para ser llenado en un navegador de internet.
A continuación se publican las descripciones de los cinco premios distribuidos en el Seminario Anual, así como el formulario de nominación de premios. Ambos formularios se adjuntan también en español.
Las nominaciones deben recibirse al menos 75 días antes del seminario anual para ser consideradas.

Member Nominated Awards*
1. Cleve Backster Award: Honoring an individual or group that advances the polygraph profession through tireless dedication to standardization of polygraph principles and practices.
Este premio honra a un individuo o grupo que promueve la profesión del polígrafo a través de una incansable dedicación a la estandarización de los principios y prácticas del polígrafo.
2. William L. and Robbie S. Bennett Memorial Award: Honoring unrelenting efforts and display of ability in the interest of the American Polygraph Association.
El premio es un reconocimiento a la excelencia y el logro presentado como muestra de aprecio de APA por los esfuerzos incansables y la demostración de capacidad en los intereses de APA.
3. David L. Motsinger Horizon Award: In recognition of a new shining star in the profession or association who early in their career demonstrates loyalty, professionalism and dedication to the polygraph profession (less than 10 years).
Este premio es para el reconocimiento de una nueva estrella brillante en la profesión o asociación que al principio de su carrera demuestra lealtad, profesionalismo y dedicación a la profesión del polígrafo. El criterio para la nominación es que el nominado debe estar al servicio de la profesión por menos de diez años.
4. John E. Reid Award: For distinguished achievements in polygraph research, teaching or writing.
Este premio es para logros Distinguidos en investigación poligráfica, enseñanza o escritura.
5. Leonarde Keeler Award: For long and distinguished service to the Polygraph Profession.
Este premio honra a un individuo por su largo y distinguido servicio a la profesión de polígrafo.
Note: The Al & Dorothea Clinchard Award: Honoring extended, distinguished, devoted and unselfish service on behalf of the APA membership was retired in March 2021.
*APA Board Members and Ex Officio Board Members are not eligible for nomination or receipt for a member nominated award – effective 2021 Awards.
Should an individual be determined by the Awards Committee to be the recipient of an award, the Awards Committee will have the right to revoke the award due to the following reasons:
1. Conduct which brings discredit to the American Polygraph Association
2. Conduct which brings discredit to the Polygraph Profession
Board and/or President Nominated Awards
1. APA Cornerstone Lifetime Achievement Award: This award is given from time to time and as determined by the APA Board of Directors (BOD) to an individual that the BOD has recognized as having made sustained and significant contributions to the APA, its members and the polygraph profession beyond normal performance expectations.
2. APA President’s Award: This award is given from time to time, at the discretion of the APA President, to a person or persons who the President feels have provided extraordinary assistance throughout their presidency.
